Weekly Update - Off to Scotland

Off to Scotland

We finished off the CAL Pre-season without nabbing a spot for main, which is sad but good in the sense that it gives us time to develop as a team slowly and comfortably. We won our first TGL match against fiveSins, but lost our second match against Death is Not an Option tonight, and therefore we're out of the TGL tournament. At this moment, we are not planning on playing in CEVO.

On a side note, I'm off on a missions trip to Scotland, and so I won't be giving any updates until the 24th of February. I'll miss writing to you. Below is a video about the trip - click the read more button to read more about the trip. I'm currently building a support team for the trip, and if God leads you to support me financially or by committing to pray for me, read on and let me know at string(at)teamjl.net.

Please pray for the team while I'm gone, and keep the scotland trip in your prayers as well.

God Bless!

As you might know, I have been involved with an interdenominational Christian club on the Waterloo University campus called Campus for Christ for close to 3 years. Through Campus for Christ, I was discipled by fellow believers, I learned transferable spiritual concepts, and how to share my faith effectively both with friends and strangers. I was filled with a passion to “help change the world by turning lost students into Christ-centered labourers”. I was able to take all the training from Campus for Christ, and implement it in Online Video Gaming, where I now lead a Christ-Centered Gaming Team called Jesus Lives.

Last year, I had the privilege to go on a week long Missions Trip to Scotland with Campus for Christ to partner with the local ministry there in building spiritual movements of evangelism and discipleship. Scotland portrays a legendary Christian Heritage. Men like Eric Lidell, who won an Olympic gold medal but used his fame to reach the youth and ultimately China, John Knox and George MacDonald have impacted the world. However, our generation is virtually unreached. There are many churches in Scotland, but the body of Christ is dwindling. Most students believe that Christianity is a thing of the past, and that pluralism is the path to the future. While at Scotland, we shared the Gospel with students on University campuses, encouraged the local campus ministries and held events to raise spiritual awareness. Despite the rocky soil, we were able to see 8 people come to Christ. This was made possible thanks to your support and prayers.

This year, I had the opportunity to go back for two weeks, and I gladly applied for the trip. I’m confident this is the most effective use of my time for Christ’s glory. I will be leaving on the 8th of February, and coming back on the 24th.

In order to make all this possible, I need to build a support team to help meet the financial needs of the trip – the flights, food and accommodation, and materials. The cost for two weeks is around $3,500. I’m trusting God in raising these funds through people willing to invest in helping reach those who are yet to know Jesus personally. Would you consider partnering with me by contributing $50, $100, $200 or whatever amount God lays on your heart to give?

Most importantly, I need your prayers. We will face a lot of spiritual warfare in Scotland, and cannot do this in our own strength. I have attached a prayer card with prayer requests for this trip.

Thank you for prayerfully considering this opportunity to invest in God’s kingdom. It would be exciting to see what God will do in Scotland. If you choose to partner with me, please let me know at string(at)teamjl.net, so I can email you more info.

Thanks for considering partnering with me, and God Bless!
